Mammootty as David John Kottaram
Mammootty plays David John Kottaram in Joshy's latest flick Nasrani. Nasrani is a colloquial term for a rich Syrian Christian of central Travancore and Mammootty plays the role of a Syrian Christian estate owner.
The film is produced by Rajan (Doha) under the banner of Horizon Entertainment. The script for the latest film has been written by Renjith, who himself is a talented director and a close friend of Mammootty.
The pooja ceremony and recording were held at Sarovaram in Kochi on June 7. The ceremonial lamp was lit by Rajan's wife Rajitha Rajan in the presence of film personalities like Renjith, Dilip, Vinayan, Siyad Koker, K B George and many others.
Kavya Madhavan and Vimala Raman are the two heroines of the film. Kavya has acted with him a long time ago when she was a child artiste. Although she has been part of the supporting cast of films starring Mammootty, this is the first time the two are the leading pair in a film.
The film also has Bharat Gopi, Kalabhavan Mani, Biju Menon, Lalu Alex, Captain Raju, Vijaya Raghavan, Sai Kumar, Siddique, Augustine, Saddique, KPAC Lalitha, Sukumari etc.
Bijilal composes music for the songs penned by Anil Panachu. Shaji wields camera for the film. The film will be shot in and around the nearby places of Kottayam.
The film is slated for release in August during the Onam festival and would be brought to the theaters by Marikkar Films
