Meera highest paid actress in Malayalam

Meera Jasmine through luck has emerged as one of the most successful actresses in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu cinema. Director Lohithadas introduced her to the Malayalam film industry by casting her in his film Soothradaran. But the film did not click as expected and Lady Luck came in the form of Run opposite Madhavan and she was flooded with offers from top stars.

Today, her name is synonymous with good cinema. She bagged the state award for the best actress for Kasthoorimaan and national award for Padom Onnu Oru Vilapam. Her films Gramophone, Swapnakoodu, Perumazhakalam, Achuvinte Amma, Rasathanthram and the recent Vinodayatra were critically acclaimed hits.

After all these hits, she became the No 1 in the Malayalam film industry and has now become the highest paid actress in Malayalam. For Sathyan Anithcaud's Vinodayatra, she was paid Rs 14 lakhs and for Blessy's film Calcutta News, her rate shot up to 15 lakhs. Till recently, only 7 lakhs was paid to an actress of the Malayalam film industry. Now, she has gone beyond Kavya Madhavan.

But when Katrina Kaif acted in Balram Vs Tharadas, she was given 15 lakhs. Rs 20 lakhs was paid to Sada when she acted in East Coast Vijayan's film Novel.

It was Satyan Anthicaud who brought Meera Jasmine back to Malluwood via Achuvinte Amma.

he actress was able to bag good roles with good directors and fabulous scripts. After the success of her recent films, she has changed her outlook towards life.

Meera has also done commercial films with superstars of Tamil, Telugu and Kannada with stars like Vijay, Ajit, Pawan Kalyan, Ravi Teja and Puneeth Rajkumar.

But now things have changed, as Meera aspires to be like her role models Shabana Azmi, Nandita Das and Tabu.
