The Institute of Archaeology under the Archaeological Survey of India, Delhi, has invited applications for admission to its two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Archaeology. Entry qualification is a Masters Degree in Ancient or Medieval Indian History/Archaeology / Anthropology / Indian Classical languages such as Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic or Persian or in geology from a recognized University or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST/OBC students). The upper-age limit is 25 years as on July 31, 2007 (relaxable for SC/ST/OBC as per rules).

The prospectus can be obtained from the office of the Director, Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India, Red Fort, Delhi – 110006, by sending a demand draft of Rs.250 drawn in favour of the Director, Institute of Archaeology payable in New Delhi, along with a self-addressed envelope (size 32 x 22 cm and or A4 size). The applicant should write his name and address in capital letters on the reverse of the demand draft. The last date of accepting requests for application and prospectus is July 14, 2007. Last date for submission of applications is July 31, 2007.

During the entire period of study, students will be entitled for a monthly stipend of Rs.1,500 and second class railway/ordinary bus fare as travelling allowance for attending outstation training camps. More details can be had from prospectus.
