Big B with Mammootty in Vande Mataram

Close on the heels of the news of his acting with Rajinikant in Robot, here comes news about his latest south venture. Bollywood Badshah Amitabh Bachchan and Malayalam super star Mammooty are coming together for the first time ever in Vande Mataram, a Tamil - Malayalam bilingual film by T Aravind. The news of the two giant talents coming together has stirred excitement among the fans of Mammootty's in Kerala. The other big star in the movie is Tamil - Telugu star Arjun.

Amitabh, it is learnt, will do the role of prime minister in the movie. The PM's role is pivotal to the film, said people backing the project. The film is about the plight of farmers in our society. Mammootty plays the role of an intelligence officer and Arjun is a police chief in this movie. Sneha, who is the female lead in the movie, plays the role of a pilot.

The film's producer Henry met Amitabh recently and gave him a copy of the script in English.

The news comes after the recent buzz about Amitabh and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai appearing together in superstar Rajnikant's Robot. Amitabh has close touch with many film personalities of Kerala. Priyadarshan, Mammootty, Mohanlal keep close ties with the Big B. Amitabh has a sizable following of admirers in the South too.

Other cast in the Malayalam version of Vande Mataram includes Jagadish, Arjun, Riaz Khan, Akash, and Jai. Henry's story will have lyrics by Girish Puthencherry. Vidyasagar composes music for the film. The film is produced under Pankaj production banner.
