With solemn prayers, Christians in the state today observed Holy Thursday, commemorating the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples, a day ahead of crucifixion.Bishops and senior priests performed the Washing of the Feet ceremony in churches, followed by special prayers and readings passages from the Gospels relating to the Last Supper.

Keeping with tradition, Syrian Christians in Kerala observed the occasion by breaking rice bread at home, recalling the symbolism of the Last Supper as revealed by Jesus Christ to his 12 disciples.
