Record crude oil throughput by BPCL Kochi Refinery

BPCL Kochi Refinery has recorded the highest ever crude oil throughput in the financial year 2007-08 by refining 8.2 million tonnes of crude oil. The company has also achieved a record production in LPG (442179 tonnes),petrol (875463 tonnes), aviation turbine fuel (282991 tonnes) and sulphur (24343 tonnes), a refinery press release said today.

The refinery has also achieved record production individually in different grades of petrol, including BS-II Motor Spirit (774635 tonnes) and Euro III Motor Spirit (100798 tonnes) and different grades of diesel comprising BS-II HSD (3243700 tonnes),Euro III HSD (93042 tonnes) and LSHF HSD (89630 tonnes).

In 2007,Kochi Refinery commissioned the Single Point Mooring (SPM) facility which facilitates in receiving crude oil in large crude carriers thus bringing down the cost of transportation of crude oil.

The refinery has this year won various awards including the Kerala state Pollution Control Board award for consistent top grade performance in pollution control and environment protection, National Safety Council (Kerala chapter). Awards for outstanding performance, best safety committee and safety management and the Green Tech Foundation's Gold Award for safety management.
