Sunil Mittal inducted into ITU Telecom Board
Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman and CEO of Bharti Enterprises, has been inducted into the International Telecommunication Union Telecom Board. Mittal would serve the Board for next two years. ITU is the United Nations agency for information and communications technology that helps government and private sector to co-ordinate on global ICT networks and services.
"I am honoured to be a part of this prestigious global agency... I am confident that India's experience in providing affordable telecom services to millions of customers, especially in rural areas, will benefit the ITU," Mittal said in a statement on Sunday.
"It will be my endeavour to work with the Board towards achieving the agency's development goals and further bridging the global digital divide," he said.
Bharti Enterprises is a leading business group with interest in telecom, agri business, insurance and retail.
