Military school entrance

Applications have been invited for the Common Entrance Test for admissions to Class VI in the Rashtriya Military Schools located at Bangalore, Belgaum, Ajmer (Rajasthan), Chail (Himachal Pradesh) and Dholpur (Rajasthan). These Military Schools, functioning under the Ministry of Defence, are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and are fully residential.

The entrance test will be held on December 21, 2008. The test will have questions on intelligence, general knowledge, mathematics and English. The result of the test will be published on the web site www.indianarmy.nic.in.

Wards of defence personnel are eligible for admission.

Applicants should pass Class V from a government or recognised schools before the date of admission to the Military Schools.

Applicants should be physically and medically fit. Only boys aged between 10 and 12 years as on 1.7.2009 are eligible. Six months relaxation in the upper age limit is permissible for the wards of personnel killed in action.

Of the total seats, 67 per cent is reserved for wards of Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO) and other personnel of Army, Navy and Air Force and ex-servicemen; 20 per cent for wards of officers and 13 per cent for wards of civilians.

Application form can be obtained from any of the Rashtriya Military Schools by paying Rs.25 towards application form cost or Rs.200 (Rs.100 for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes ) for both prospectus and application form.

For getting the application form by post send a demand draft drawn in favour of the Principal of the Rashtriya Military School concerned along with a requisition letter and self-addressed envelope of 31x25 cm size affixed with postage stamps for Rs.42 to the school.
