B.Ed admission


Applications have been invited by the Director of LBS Centre for Science and Technology for admission to the B.Ed. courses on various subjects conducted by various government, aided and self-financing B.Ed. training colleges in the State.

Both merit and management seats are available and the merit seats will be filled by the government.

Eligibility

Applicants should be Indian citizens of Kerala origin and should have passed BA or B.Sc. degree examination under the 10+ 2+ 3 pattern with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate for Part I, Part II and Part III.

Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes categories with minimum pass marks for Bachelor's or Master's degree in the respective optional subjects are eligible for admission.

Candidates belonging to the Socially and Economically Backward Communities (SEBC) will get 3 per cent and Other Eligible Communities (OEC) are eligible for 5 per cent relaxation in marks.

Hearing-impaired and speech-impaired candidates are not eligible to apply.

Visually-challenged candidates are eligible except for science subjects.

There is no upper age limit.

Eligibility for different optional subjects are:-

B.Ed. English
BA English language and literature or functional English or communicative English with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate; or BA or B.Sc. in any subject with at least 50 per cent marks for Part I English and at least 50 per cent marks for Master's degree in English language and literature.

B.Ed. Malayalam, Hindi, Arabic, Tamil, Sanskrit and Urudu

Same pattern as in B.Ed. English.

B.Ed. mathematics

B.Sc. mathematics, statistics or applied statistics as main with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate.

Those qualified with statistics or applied statistics should have studied mathematics as one of the subjects

B.Ed. physical science

B.Sc. with physics, chemistry, polymer chemistry, geology, petrochemicals, biochemistry or industrial chemistry as main with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregative.

B.Ed. natural science

B.Sc. botany, zoology, biochemistry, plant science, aquaculture, biotechnology or microbiology with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate.

B.Ed. social sciences

BA with history, Arabic or Islamic history as main with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate; or BA with geography, politics, economics, sociology, psychology, philosophy or West Asian studies under Part III with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate.

B.Ed. geography

Bachelor's degree with geography as main subject under Part III with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate.

B.Ed. commerce
M.Com. with at least 45 per cent marks
B.Ed. home science or family and community science
B.Sc. home science or family and community science with at least 45 per cent marks.
B.Ed. computer science
MCA or M.Sc. computer science or M.Sc. electronics with at least 45 per cent marks.

How to apply
There are separate application forms for general and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes categories.

Application forms, acknowledgement, scratch cards and prospectus can be obtained from the LBS facilitation centres by submitting a demand draft for Rs.400 (Rs.200 for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes categories) drawn from a nationalised bank in favour of the Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.
