Vadakkum Nathan - Watch Mohanlal Malayalam Movie Online
Elegantly crafted and minimalist, Vadakkumnathan explores the nuances and complexities in the relationships between Bharatha Pisharodi (Mohanlal), a brilliant Sanskrit scholar and his family and environs. Failing to come to terms with his mental turmoil, Pisharodi vanishes on the day of his marriage to his cousin and childhood sweetheart, Meera (Padmapriya). The family gives him up for dead. But Bharathan’s mother who goes to Hardwar to perform his last rites, spies him amid the crowds on the banks of the Ganges. His family and relatives soon realise that the brilliant professor is reeling under severe depression. Meera and others try to bring him back to normality and their struggles constitute the crux of the plot.
The character has stereotypical eccentricities associated with such people that are misinterpreted as signs of egotism. He mysteriously disappears on his wedding day and is presumed to be dead. But he is found and brought back after five long years from Haridwar by his family.
The mystery behind Pisharody's disappearance is what the story is built around. Some parts of the film, especially the violent climax, give the feeling that it might have been ghost written by Ranjith.
Vadakkumnathan has some lilting melodies by the late music maestro Ravindran. His songs, especially ‘Kalabham tharam bhagavane…’ are heart rending and accentuate the simplicity and freshness of the theme. The camerawork by S. Kumar is sheer poetry. Every frame has been thoughtfully executed and enhances the movie’s aesthetic appeal. The pace of Vadukkumnathan is slow but it is at once deeply moving and eloquent. Do watch it, if you seek good wholesome entertainment.
