Madambi (Feudal Lord) is a Malayalam movie starring Mohanlal, Jagathy and Kavya Madhavan. Scripted and directed by B Unnikrishnan. In a village named Ilavattam there lives a man by the name of Gopalakrishna Pillai. He is a man with diverse qualities. Basically Gopalakrishnan Pillai (Mohanlal) is a money-lender, but not the avaricious kind. He lends money at very low interest-rates but makes it a point to get his money back on the date agreed upon. And if there is any delay, he even becomes extremely harsh.

People misunderstand him to be money-minded, without having any emotional bond even towards his mother or younger brother Ramakrishnan Pillai (Ajmal). There are other story elements that are typical to Mohanlal films like the enemies in the form of a feudal family, as well as people, who know he is a do-gooder.

Gopalakrishna Pillai runs a tuition center, where he teaches Malayalam to young students, in an earnest attempt to instill in them a love for their mother tongue, which he considers to be of supreme importance. Gopalakrishna Pillai is also someone who leaves no stone unturned to fight injustice of any kind. The story takes a turn when a bank, named Grand Bank opens up in the village, offering to give out loans at very low interest. The manager of the bank is a young lady named Jayalakshmi. She has made her entry into the village with a very definite purpose. All this, plus the very different kind of bonding between Gopalakrishna Pillai and his mother, form the plot, which develops towards a very interesting climax.

As the story moves along, we learn more about our hero. He is hard-hearted, as he was thrown out his father (Sai Kumar) when he was a teenager for his wayward lifestyle. His mother (KPAC Lalitha) hates him for doing that and his brother hates him because he does not let his brother pursue his dream of being an actor.

There are other conflicts like the stock of rivals in the form of Siddique and his younger brothers. Then, there is more rivalry in the form of Jayalakshmi(Kavya Madhavan), a bank manager.

Mohanlal plays Gopalakrishna Pillai while Kavya Madhavan becomes Jayalakshmi. Jagathy plays Mohanlal's leagal advisor & Innocent Plays The Karayogam President.Others in the cast include Kiran Raj ,Vijay Kumar , Sriraman , Kollam Thulasi , Malika Kapoor & Suraj Venjaramoodu.
